Why is this topic called "London by train"? :o

why not ?

turkey - london isn't possible ??

Anything is possible but how likely is this? B*gger all has been built of the Trans-Asian Railway since the project started in the '60s (see Wikipedia), the biggest problem being the changes of gauge from one country to another. Still, this article came from the "Islamic Republic News Agency", so it must be worth posting, eh? :D

I took the train from Peterborough (small city about 100 miles north of London) to Bangkok. Unfortunately I had to use 2 buses as well en route... an experience, but I don't think I'll be doing it again.

Thursday, 05 July 2007

The Trans Asian Railway, originally proposed in the 1960’s, has been reintroduced by planners at the United Nations. Plans call for a network of rails spanning continents with connections to Asia, Africa and Europe.

Plans call for the Trans Asian Railway to provide a continuous 14,000 kilometer rail link between Singapore and Istanbul. Overall, 81,000 kilometers of rail would be linked in 26 nations.
