Climate experts say Bangkok needs to prepare and reform it’s urban planning to prevent the capital from sinking as the consequences of climate change accelerate.

 

A leading climate professor said the capitals location next to the Gulf of Thailand make it more vulnerable, particularly to effects of rising sea levels.  

 

Thammasat Hospital doctors called the parents and lawyer of two young female activists on a severe hunger strike to visit the hospital this morning, as their condition has worsened. Both have refused water and food in protest at the detention of 21 activists including themselves on charges of lese majeste, bail has been repeatedly denied. None have been sentenced so far.

 

Meanwhile a protest continued in front of the Supreme Court for the 242nd day with a banner saying “Release our Friends”

 

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect believed to be behind an online gambling  website site. Officers searched 40 locations looking for suspects involved in the case. Some of the places were suspected to be used as money laundering fronts for the gambling website.

 

Sutthisan police in bangkok  raided one of two massage parlours operating illegally. The venue is believed to be  associated with Kampon  Wira-thep-suporn, who fled the country after his establishment, Victoria Secret, was closed in 2018. Two managers, who were responsible for running the parlour, were arrested and accused of conspiring to run the illegal business.

 

Tennis, The WTA Thailand open came to a close last night, with China’s Zhu Lin crowned champion of the 2023 Thailand Open after beating  Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko 64 64.

China: A highway pile-up in central China involving some 50 vehicles has killed 16 people and injured 66 others, video on local media showing burning trucks and smashed cars. Some 180 rescue workers were dispatched to the scene.
