A gang of youngsters caused chaos by throwing ping pong bombs at Bali Hai Pier around 11 PM yesterday, February 8th. Pattaya residents and tourists were alarmed and called for action from relevant authorities.

The incident happened last night at a field near Bali Hai Pier in south Pattaya in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district. Pattaya residents told The Pattaya News that they saw a group of about 10 teenagers arriving at the field on motorbikes and began throwing ping pong bombs, creating detonations that could be heard around the area.

The group left before the authorities arrived, said the residents who asked not to reveal their identity. The explosion disturbed many people and tourists and also left a big hole in a concrete field.

Concrete painted green maybe, that's novel?

Wrong province...

At a guess it sounds like some Chemistry students may have been making Mercury Fulminate.  I hope they all survived the experience with the same number of limbs and digits that they started with.

If you build it, they will come throw exploding ping-pong balls.

Were the CCTV cameras working?

Something for the tourists to tell family and friends about when they get home. There aren't many places you can go for a holiday and see people tossing bombs around. TAT should promote it, at the same time offering vastly overpriced protection outfits with an Amazing Thailand logo in blood red.

World class bomb throwers by the sound of it all perfectly normal at the asylum ????

There's no such thing as a wrong province for a Ping Pong show in Thailand.

I wouldn't know I prefer snooker.

Back around 1969 (in the USA) we kids occasionally made  pipe bombs.  Maybe a little homemade black powder juiced up with flash powder squeezed out of regular firecrackers.  Good thing we were careful, as a ragged piece of copper pipe at high velocity could have taken someone out.  Circe 1990 a kid blew up my above ground pool with a substantial pipe bomb on Halloween night.  He did prison time.

Ping Pong ball explosives don't take much powder but can be very loud.  But you don't want to be holding one when it goes off.

As for Ping Pong shows, a tout at Patpong tried to get us interested (circa 1978).  I said I wanted to see an elephant show, and the guy got really ticked off at me, LOL.
