Can I drive from Thailand to China via Laos with my Thai-registered car (steering wheel on the right side)?

I have a car registered in Thailand. I know I can enter Laos, but can I drive further and enter China with my Thai-registered car (steering wheel on the right side)?

 

I found https://www.chinesedriverslicensetest.com/tourists-drive-china/, which says:

but it doesn't which "certain border areas" they're referring to, and no idea if it applied to Thai-registered cars and/or car with their steering wheel on the right side.

 

Example of such a drive, but with a Chinese driver and likely a Chinese-registered car (steering wheel on the left side????

You will moat likely need a guide in Laos, and for sure in China.

I see there is new information about border crossing in to Laos every week depending on which border crossing point they are trying. Some have no issues, others have to turn around. Make sure you have updated information about the border point you going to use. 

 

For motorbikes there is several fb pages to follow, quite sure there will be for cars to. Maybe the best place to get updated information

I talked to my friend, and the guide was to get it from Thailand and in to Laos. That was the bottle neck and time consuming.
