webfact
Warrants for the arrests of three Myanmar migrant workers are to be issued soon, because police have reason to believe that they may be responsible for the murder of an entire ethnic Hmong family at a farm in Wang Chao district of Thailand’s western province of Tak last Sunday. Pol Col Wasant Sirikarnkomol, superintendent of Wang Chao district police, said on Saturday that the head of the Hmong family had been involved in a quarrel with the workers over unpaid wages for working in his tapioca field. He said that the Hmong man had postponed the payment until all the crops were harvested. Damrongsak
"... He said that the Hmong man had postponed the payment until all the crops were harvested. ..." Maybe he didn't have enough money until the crop was harvested and sold to a middleman. But if he was paying piece rate, he should have paid daily or weekly. What a tragedy. 1

hotchilli
There's always a penalty for non-payment of wages to the poor people... the boss found-out the hard way that being told you will get money when the crops were harvested wasn't agreed upon. Just a shame they took the whole family and including the kids not just the boss.
BritManToo
More likely they were killed by Thai loan sharks and the foreign migrant workers blamed (as usual). Edited February 13, 2023 by BritManToo
