A 37 year old suspected mastermind behind a gambling website was arrested by police at suvarnabum airport last night as he returned from Hong Kong. 


The man known as Benz Daemon owns several nightclubs, japanese restaurants and runs an import car business. 


Police earlier raided his 40 million baht condo in bangkok and impounded more than 500 million bahts worth of asset in raids that resulted in the arrest of 33 people.

 

Special Investigation officers will prosecute a celebrity couple, and six others on charges of defrauding the public through a multi-billion-baht Ponzi scheme. 


Officers submitted documents to the public prosecutors office yesterday, they agreed to proceed with the prosecution, A Singaporean accomplice Daryl Young-hui, who was arrested last month in Phuket will also be charged.

 

Activists are preparing a lawsuit through the non profit group iLaw against the Thai government for its alleged use of Pegasus spyware developed by the Israeli firm NSO, the spyware is designed to hack into mobile phones and is believed to have been used to snoop on 30 activists and lawyers during 2020 and 2021.


This will be the first such case against state surveillance in Thailand. 

 

A group of 34 Thai nationals, some injured and one deceased, will be flown back from Turkey tomorrow.

A second team is ready to fly out if there is a request from the Turkish Government.

 

A SOLDIER and a cadet died when a tank they were in overturned during a joint military, police and civilian exercise in Lopburi yesterday.


The small tank apparently drove over a barrier then over a cliff before rolling over killing the two occupants.

Thailand once again confirmed it will impose an entry fee on foreign holidaymakers from June.


Travellers flying into Thailand will have to pay 300 baht while those entering via land borders and seaports will be levied 150 baht each.


The government expects to collect about 3.9 billion baht by the end of the year.
