A 57-year-old Thai woman wanted in California for a fatal hit-and-run on Jan 1st has been arrested by Thai police.
The woman Ms Tubtim  drove into 22 year old Benjamin Kable, an engineering student in Michigan. Then fled the scene and flew to Bangkok on the 5th January. 


Police traced her to Ratchaburi. She is said to be co operating with police and is due to be extradited to face charges in the U.S where she is a citizen.

 

Prime minister Prayut has been advised to take legal action promptly against a nephew who’s accused of being involved in a money-laundering scam connected with the Chinese businessman known as “Tu Hao”. 


He allegedly bought a fleet of Chinese tour buses with money from the sale of drugs and gambling dens.

The import car businessman known as Benz Daemon being questioned and held by police has denied charges related to running an illegal lottery website, He insisted he would testify in court.


The court denied bail despite a surety of 12 million baht being  posted by his brother.

 

Health officials say they have found 2 cases of a new sub variant strain of Omicron covid 19, known as Kraken, this variant is highly transmissible, however both patients have now recovered.


The advice is to continue with basic precautions such as hand washing, wearing a mask and to get vaccinated.

A handful of demonstrators last night held a large  banner calling for the abolition of the lese majeste law and an end to pre-trial detention of political detainees.  Their protest took place in front of the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake rocked the central Philippines early this morning, fortunately the quake shook in a sparsely populated area with the nearest village 11 kilometers away, there were no reports of injury,  locals have been warned to expect aftershocks.
