Has anyone had a hernia (groin) surgery in Bangkok in recent years? If so, can you tell your experience (pros & contras), and eventually with recommendations (doctor & name hospital etc.). Much apprecied for feedbacks on this.

Innumerable AN members have had hernia repairs done in Thailand. Some in Bangkok, some upcountry.

Cost will depend on the hospital and the technique: laparoscopic costs more than open approach. And if you opt for laparoscopic and during the procedure (as can happen, especially with overweight patients ) they find they have to switch to open, you still pay the higher laparoscopic price. As for hospital, government hospitals cost far less than private (difference usually 4-5 fold) BUT there are long waits for elective surgeries at govt hospitals, especially in Bangkok and post COVID. Also need a Thai speaker to help you navigate the system and expect what can be done in a single pre-appointed visit at a private hospital to tajke multiple visits at a government hospital, each taking the better part of a day.
