About ฿100m in assets seized in multiple raids on drug trafficking networks

Thai anti-narcotics police have seized assets worth about 100 million baht and arrested four major suspects belonging to three illegal narcotic networks during in raids in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Tak, Saraburi and Ayutthaya provinces since February 20th.

Former aide of the late Somdet Phra Wannarat gets 10 years for embezzlement

A former close aide of the late Somdet Phra Wannarat, abbot of Bowonniwet Vihara Temple, was sentenced to 10 years in prison today (Tuesday), after being found guilty by the Criminal Court of embezzling about 80 million baht from several temples in Bangkok and other provinces.

Canal to be drained in search for missing baby in Nakhon Pathom province

Police in Nakhon Pathom are coordinating with Hin Mun Tambon Administrative Organization (TAO) today (Tuesday) to make arrangements to drain the Thor canal, in the search for the 8-month-old baby who has been missing from home in Bang Len district since February 5th.

Bangkok nightclub bouncer fired for slapping foreign customer with bottle

A security guard at a popular nightspot on Bangkok’s Khaosan Road has been fired for handcuffing a foreign customer, then slapping him (twice) with a bottle. The guard, named only as Thongchai, was sacked after a video of the incident went viral and provoked outrage on social media.

A 57-year-old Finnish expat was found dead in his bed with a cut throat and a chopping knife on his chest. His Thai wife told police the man had been ruminating about suicide for a long time due to domestic problems in his homeland.

Phuket officials ‘clarify’ source of black water flowing onto Karon Beach

Officials from Karon municipality have issued a statement to confirm the source of supposed black wastewater flowing into the sea at Karon Beach. They say the water is actually sediment from the Nong Han Canal, which is being washed away by the recent rain. They say it’s not rotten water but acknowledge the appearance is similar to waste water.

Thai government pre-empts bid to debate delay to enforcement of anti-torture law

Thailand’s opposition parties’ bid to hold a debate on the executive decree, delaying the enforcement of some provisions of the Act for the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance today (Tuesday), was foiled when government MPs submitted a motion seeking a ruling from the Constitutional Court on the constitutionality of the decree.
