Pattaya City has recently installed traffic barriers on Walking Street on side sois following a recent meeting to limit the number of motorbikes and bike vendors on the street at night.

 

The new barriers, which can be unlocked and opened, are meant to block motorbike taxi drivers and food vendors from driving on the main pedestrian only street after it closes to traffic every night from around 7:00 PM.

 

One of the biggest complaints recently were motorbike drivers, mostly taxis, entering the road against rules and regulations and blazing through crowds of pedestrians, a possible danger to many. Therefore, the new gates were installed recently.

Yes, but they might have an urgent need to get to the GoGo Bar or Club! ???? 

 

TBH the barriers are poorly thought through. No only an impediment to wheelchairs and scooters, but they look like a trip hazard too.

If the police were there to enforce the law with heavy fines, the blocks were not needed..but the article write it.... entering the road against rules and regulations.... so who has to enforce the rules???

I left Australia to get away from the whiners.

Shame that you think those with disabilities are moaners, complainers and whiners. They're people less fortunate than you and a little pre-planning could have ensured they have access along with anyone else.

The anti-scooter barriers installed on Sukhumvit in Bangkok had a dog-leg area for wheelchairs. So it can be done.

The invalid carriage lanes from Father Ray's along Soi Paniad Chang (Yume) attest to that.

I'm pretty sure the guy in that photo would not be able to get from Big C Pattaka Klang to Walking Street by path or walkway without tumbling out of it anyway !

How about we make everything handicap accessible, but discontinue welfare payments?

Yep, its the only complaint you'll ever see from me, I'm fed up with the whinging and complaining, I'm always  complaining making comments regarding these negative members.
