My fiance and I are UK citiizens and are looking to stay in Thailand for the next 2 years, we have worked out that we have to apply for the multiple entry visa as we are both under 50! and realise we have to do the border run every 90 days in the 12 month period. But what happens when the visa runs out? Do we have to come back to the UK to get the visa renewed or can we get the visa renewed somewhere else? One more question, unfortunatly we have recently found out that my fiance has terminal cancer, so we are going to China to try Gene Therapy for him, but we are hoping to go to Thailand first for about 1 week to drop off our pocessions in our condo etc then go to China for minimum of 2 months for his treatment then come back to Thailand after his treament. How will this affect our Visa's? I hope this is not to confusing! I really hope someone can answer my questions as we are finding this quite stressful as time is an issue for us and we are looking to leave the Uk in the next 6 weeks, we need my fiance to start his treament asap. Thanks in advance... :o

If you can get a Multiple entry Non Immigrant visa it will be valid for multiple entries for a 12 month period so any trip out of Thailand during the 12 months does not affect the visa. The number of entries that you make dont count. If you re-enter Thailand the final time just before the expiry date of the visa you will get your final 90 days so giving you almost 15 months in Thailand.

You can exit and enter Thailand any time during the validity of the visa but will not be allowed to stay more than 90days each time.

Your best chance to get a multi Non Imm O type visa is likely to be at the Royal Thai consulate in Hull . as they list 'visiting non Thai friends' and 'retirement' as entitlement to apply for an O type visa. I dont know what reason you intend to give but maybe you could try the 'exploring early retirement opportunities due to ill health'

As these reasons for getting a Non Immigrant visa dont usually appear on the list at consulates in neighbouring countries getting another multi entry visa in the region may be a problem. You should check this forum for consulates in the neighbouring countries that are offering such a visa but there are very few (if any) and they are unlikely to be issuing them to those not having employment or Thai family. However you should check nearer the time as circumstances constantly change.
