Forest park fires threaten lychee plantations in Chiang Rai province

Villagers in Mae Suai district of Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai have been busy building firebreaks to protect their lychee plantations from forest fires in Doi Kat Phi forest park.

New EEC Secretary-General Eyes Investment Increase

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee has welcomed its new secretary general, Mr. Chula Sukmanop. The new committee head said he was hoping to raise 2.2 trillion baht in investments in the EEC area by the year 2027.

Airports expect nearly 2.4 million passengers, and 14,200 flights during Songkran

An Airports of Thailand spokesperson says 14,220 flights, carrying 2.37 million passengers, are expected at 6 Thai airports during the Songkran holiday. AOT currently manages Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang (Chiang Rai), Phuket, and Hat Yai airports.

Young Korean Man Fakes His Own Abduction in Pattaya for Thai Girlfriend’s Expenses

A young Korean man living in Pattaya lied to his parents in South Korea about being abducted to get money to take care of his Thai girlfriend. Police who initially came to rescue him had to later arrest him for overstaying his visa.

Pattaya Police Apprehend 7 Illegal Migrant Workers at Fresh Market

Police working with Immigration arrested seven illegal migrant workers coming from Thailand’s neighboring countries. The workers were captured at Amorn Nakorn fresh market, one of the biggest fresh markets in Pattaya.

As Thailand’s General Election 2023 is drawing near, it may seem to be a matter of personal choice whether to exercise our right to vote but, for people with disabilities and the elderly with physical limitations, there are complications. For them, it is not just about their will or right to vote, but also having access to the facilities throughout the voting procedure that ensure their ability to vote.

Police seize large cache of narcotics during weeklong operation

Thai anti-narcotics police have seized large quantities of drugs, including 19 million meth pills, and arrested 15 suspects in operations in northern and north-eastern provinces between March 28th and April 4th.

Court bars Chuwit from campaigning against Bhumjaithai over its cannabis policy

Thailand’s Civil Court issued an injunction today (Wednesday) barring Chuwit Kamolvisit from campaigning against the Bhumjaithai party over its cannabis policy, pending the outcome of a defamation lawsuit, filed against the self-styled whistle blower by the party.
