Thailand chips away at US trade deficit with 62% increase in chip market exports

The United States has been experiencing a growing deficit in its chipmaking trade with Asia, but the good news is that Thailand is helping to chip away at that gap. According to US Census data, US imports of chips grew 17% from last year to US$4.86 billion in February, with Asia accounting for 83% of that total.

Rogue cop with gambling addiction jailed for 50 years for gun theft

A rogue cop with a gambling addiction was sentenced to 270 years in prison for theft and illegal possession of 160 firearms. He will only serve 50 years as allowed under Thai law.

Vietjet to launch direct service between Hanoi and Phuket from May

The first direct flights linking Phuket and the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, will begin operating from May. TTR Weekly reports that low-cost carrier Vietjet will launch the service, making trips between both destinations more affordable and cutting down on travel time.

Murdered Australian resort boss had accused suspect’s wife of stealing

An Australian man murdered at the Krabi resort he ran with his Thai wife had accused the murder suspect’s wife, who worked at the resort, of stealing. Mr Peter Heppell and his wife ran Melina’s Monkey House and Whale Bar in the Khao Thong subdistrict of Krabi. He was celebrating his 57th birthday when he was stabbed to death after a brief altercation with the suspected killer.
