With Thailand’s House of Representatives dissolved and the next general election scheduled for 14 May 2023, Thai political parties are competing to outdo each other with populist policy pledges.

In a bid to bring about the first transition of power in nearly a decade, Pheu Thai has vowed to double daily minimum wages to 600 baht (about US$17.50) by 2027.

I think they meant the Brown envelopes will determine the winner of the next election.

I don't agree. It is up to the people of Thailand, to rid themselves of the 250 army appointed, toxic, super corrupt senators. Whatever they need to do, is ok. It must happen. If not within the law, than creatively.

Wow.  Wow.  Wow.  Raising social security from 600 baht to 700 baht.  Breathtakingly BOLD!   That'll make them sit up and take notice.  As dear old Dad used to say, don't spend it all in one place.

Summary:  The next government will be determined by sleazy backroom deal making, just as the constitution intended.  It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Thailand will not be real democracy, or even a half-assed democracy, until it gets a new constitution.  One not written by the military.
