Police arrested six suspects and seized three pickup trucks as they were trying to trap macaque monkeys at a temple in Phetchaburi province yesterday (Thursday).

Police also found one monkey, traps and 40 blue plastic bags used to contain the animals after their capture.

One of the suspects allegedly told the police that they had captured about 80 monkeys at Thong Chai Temple in Mueang district of Phetchaburi, which is home to many monkeys. Thetemple has become a tourist attraction and there is plenty of food provided by visiting tourists.

Hundreds of monkeys have recently gone missing (Loei, Nakhon Sawan),
This is related to the increased black market trade for lab monkeys since a crackdown on the practice in China. There was a comprehensive article recently in The Guardian.
Lab monkeys are trafficked to Cambodia and further on to the US with falsified documents. A lab monkey in the US costs 20,000 to 40,000.

Good, as there are too many monkeys everywhere and they don't have natural enemies and there is no other way to get rid of them. They breed more than rabbits

Plus, their brains are soooo delicious!
