Chiang Mai residents and tourists brave choking air pollution to celebrate Songkran

Apparently undeterred by the excessive PM2.5 air pollution, many residents and tourists, both Thai and foreign, spilled onto the Chiang Mai’s main roads this morning (Thursday) to celebrate the Songkran festival.

PTT and Saudi Company to Invest in Green Hydrogen

Hundreds of probation orders handed out to drunk, reckless Songkran drivers

As Songkran kicks off, the police are busy cracking down on dangerous or reckless driving behaviour, with hundreds of probation orders handed out already. According to a Coconuts report, over 300 offenders have received the court-mandated orders so far.

From Songkran splashes to handcuffs: Two Hong Kong men arrested for shooting humourless cops with water

Millions of people all over Thailand today are celebrating Songkran with water fights but spare a thought for two men in Hong Kong unfortunate enough to encounter some humourless cops while celebrating the Thai New Year. The pair were arrested by the party-pooping officers for disorderly conduct after they fired water guns at them at a Songkran event on Sunday in Kowloon City, a district that many people call “Little Thailand.”

Mae Chan district hospital now safe from forest fires

The Mae Chan district hospital in Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai is operating as normal, even though forest fires are only about 1.5 km away. An evacuation plan is in place in case of an emergency, according to Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong.
