BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) – Pheu Thai party’s advisory chief and head of the Pheu Thai “family”, Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced the party would not join hands with coup makers.

She was speaking as the party’s key figures outlined the strategy in election campaign at a press conference on Tuesday.

She said the party was ready to be the people’s tool, leading to the change. She told the party’s candidates to campaign in the constituencies they were contesting. They had to meet people to get the seats in the parliament.

I think they will get enough votes to lead in their own right. No coalition needed. This should basically tie the senates hand. If the senate does not back Pheu Thais choice of PM there will be big trouble. This of course is just my opinion.

The phase of rocking the boat.....cautiously.

Let's see where this goes.

And honest politicians won't work with the criminal fugitive and his minions.

Now if Thailand would have any honest politicians that would be great.

The only coalition they might have to consider should the need arise would be with the MFP

Prayut, Prawit & Anutin shoud get the dialing tone.

That would be my guess.

Expect something along these lines if things don't go their way.

Good...let's end the role of the military in Thai politics.

Its not the hands its the bank accounts that get joined but here's hoping ????

Not sure. The army clique currently governing the country is not controlling the military any more. It would require the agreement of who you know, and It's far from certain he would agree to it.

I would rather expect a judiciary coup, using the numerous mechanisms they put in the constitution to this aim.

The Pheu Thai party is definitely the peoples tool.  I've talked to several Thai friends and they say, there is no way a Shinawatra is getting elected a PM again.

I am not sure if another coup will work this time.

There are more younger voters available, 6 plus million voters were disenfranchised at the last election, the older rabid loyalists are dying off and I am not sure if the generals can rely on the troops this time around.

There is of course the "Praetorian Guard". They are not of the same group that led the last coup, but are "owned" for want of a better term, by he who cannot be mentioned by name.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King's_Guard_(Thailand)

The King's Guard (Thai: ทหารรักษาพระองค์; RTGS: Thahan Raksa Phra Ong) is a ceremonial designation given by the Monarchy of Thailand to the various units within the Royal Thai Armed Forces. Practical and real security of the Royal family has since 1992 been provided by the Royal Security Command, which is an agency that is completely independent of the armed forces.

The Royal Guards are today composed of 87 formations (formerly 94 battalions or equivalents), mostly found in the Royal Thai Army.

There seems to be a very large number of troops in the Royal Guards.

Does a senior honest politician exist anywhere?

Not since 1861

Yes

But it seems the masses prefer people who talk a lot and promise a lot.

Good to hear. The Muppets that took over illegitimately shouldn't be given a thing and be sent packing back to the stone that they crawled out from.

I rather have these military muppets trialed for unlawful seizure of power from a legitimate elected government. Allowing them to participate in the next election is a travesty for democracy.
