LOM = LAND OF MYSTERIES

In another topic: "The Thai Economy is in Crises" I just suggested we should transform the name LOS - Land Of Smiles, into LOM - Land Of Mysteries.

Why?

Well, since Thaksin has gone we all are overwhelmed and overpowered by the big number of measures, laws, sub-laws, steps by the BOT; expensive Baht, in- or decreasing exports and imports and so-called facts and numbers, published by the various ministries, their public relation offices...... etcetera, etcetera.

Most of these publications, steps, laws and measures are, IMHO, made or published to keep the 'people' calm and, behind the scenes, [the] rulers are working hard in order to keep, control and stay...in power.

My question is, are all these so called facts, steps and measures plus laws, true, partly true, false or partly false....?

Personally, I have a very strong feeling that within the coming months, the government will have many surprises in their woven basket(s) that they have to 'adjust' (due to 'foreign and 'outside' uncontrollable circumstances') all the afore mentioned steps. :o

Your comments are much appreciated.

I prefer "LOBE" Land Of Big Egos. Far too many people in government here, seem to feel they must constantly be creating "press releases", whether or not it is true, false, an opinion, within ones area of expertise, or something that only a complete idiot might say. It's all best ignored, save for entertainment value.

edit: I sometimes get the feeling that these press releases/proclamations are soooo ridiculous, that it must be by design, and that there is a method in the madness. Then I give it another think.

Usually when a country has a political upheaval the currency takes a dive....but the Baht has stayed strong which means the current people are doing something right because the Money people have confidence in them.

Biggest mystery that I run in frequently are those shops where the entrance consists of two (usually made of glass) doors. Now instead of unbolting both doors there always seems to be one door shut and that's usually the one I try to enter through first. I never took much notice before but it's getting on my nerves now :o

Well, the esteemed Mrs. Tarisa of the BOT just explained that....

The in- (and out-) flow of capital, invested in the stock market of Bangkok, SET, is to be 'blamed' for the expensive Baht.... :D
