Jenkins9039
Wife brought up something today that I hadn't even considered. Kids are British through me (descent) *dual national* Are their kids British also (via Descent-through them?)
swbaggies
Generally, you can only pass it down to one generation if they were born outside the UK. So if your child was born in Thailand for example, they can get it from you but they cannot pass it on. HOWEVER, there are exceptions so it may be different for some people. https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-british-parent#:~:text=British citizenship is normally automatically,re born outside the UK. brewsterbudgen
I might be wrong, but I have always understood that children who are British By Descent (i.e. through a British parent) cannot pass on their citizenship to their children if born abroad. However, if they move to live in the UK and have children there, their kids will be British. 1
