On April 26, 2023, Colonel Prinya Klinkasorn, Superintendent of Immigration in Chonburi Province, received information that Chinese tourists were illegally working in the area.

He instructed a joint operation with the Chonburi Provincial Employment Office, reported Siam Rath

The team discovered six Chinese individuals, five men and one woman, working in a factory producing cardboard boxes, telephones, CCTV cameras, and small electronic devices. They were all found to have tourist visas and no work permits, yet held managerial positions.

Colonel Prinya stated that the arrest was in line with the policy to crack down on illegal activities, as ordered by Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, deputy commander in chief of the police.

The incident also revealed that some Chinese nationals had applied for visas through a hidden travel agent and worked illegally as supervisors and managers without permission.

The police detained all six individuals, Mr. Li Huajun, Mr. Chen Jinyu, Mrs. Zhang Na, Mr. Yan Yuju, Xi Xiaoyong, and Mr. Sun Kwang, and sent them to the Ban Bueng Police Station for prosecution.

They were charged with "working without a work permit" in the Kingdom.

This incident serves as a reminder to all visitors to obtain proper documentation before engaging in any work-related activities in Thailand.

I'm not entirely certain why the Chinese are making all the headlines. Come to Phuket and have a go at the Russians working without a work permit. Share the love.

Makes you wonder how many politicians are also on tourist visas the tentacles of Xi stretch far and wide here ????

If the picture is actually of the factory looks like quite a bit of investment in machinery......

Fast positive propaganda for immigration, needs it. But the owner being punished, further investigation? That would be another section? All hidden of course in Thai company set up.

"...a hidden travel agent"?

Wot?

That has always been my thaught.
If any official department starts an action, there has been a whistleblower sending the information to them.
Expect to read in a few days about a corpe found burned to death in an orchard somewhere nearby.
