Following recent murmurings from AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes that he plans to shift his focus away from aviation, Thai AirAsia has offered assurances that operations in the kingdom will not be affected.

Tassapon Bijleveld from Asia Aviation, holding company of Thai AirAsia, says that although Mr Fernandes has hinted at shifting his attention to other business streams, he will continue to guide the aviation business in the interim.

According to a Bangkok Post report, Tassapon says the restructuring set to take place in Malaysia will create a more consolidated aviation group. He’s confident Thai AirAsia’s operations, and those of Thai AirAsiaX, will not be affected as they operate according to their own individual business plans.

It's a tough time for aviation at the moment, the last 3 years shut-down hurt many airlines, those that are not restructuring won't be around for mush longer.

Thai AirAsia continues to list, as of 2023, an office in Big C South Pattaya which has been closed for at least four years.  I know, I believed their erroneous Web data and went there with a query!

Thai AirAsia is using all 55 planes that it currently has available. Interesting that Thai Airways' fleet is now less than 50 planes (excluding Thai Smile). None of their 4-engine planes are being used. So Thai AirAsia is currently the largest airline in Thailand, in terms of fleet size.

Whilst across the border (for reference);

AirAsia, one of the leading airlines in the region, has confirmed the opening of a branch in Cambodia in early 2023, naming it AirAsia Cambodia, it’s fifth branch in the ASEAN region – and claims it will bring 3-4 million tourists to Cambodia per year. Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A (changed from AirAsia Group), said that his company was in the process of establishing a branch in Cambodia under the name AirAsia Cambodia.
