In the chapter about step 4, Bill writes: "The primary fact we fail to recognize is our total inability to form a true partnership with another human being." Both drunk and sober, I had one dysfunctional relationship after another. Sooner or later, they all fell apart. My first ever experience of honesty in my dealings with another human being was with my AA sponsor. After going through the 12 steps with him, I began to discover what healthy love even was.
