AN ACADEMIC at Kasetsart University’s Chemistry Department said this morning (May 3) forensic examination had found potassium cyanide, a compound with the formula KCN, in three sachets that look like tea bags found in a sedan driven by Ms. Sararat Rangsiwutthaporn, or Am, a suspect in the cyanide killing of 14 victims, with one having survived, Sanook.com and TV Channel 7 said.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Phutthawong, or Ajarn Aod, said the three bags were sent by Ban Pong police station, Ratchaburi province, who are investigating the death of Ms. Siriporn Khanwong, or Koi, 33, during the Songkran festival.

They were found in Sararat’s sedan, registered in Nakhon Pathom with licence plate number Kor Tor 9532, that she drove to pick up Siriporn then took her to make merit at a pier where she suddenly died.

Ok, but what's your point?

Why does this "academic" insist on speaking sub judice? He's making statements which could seriously prejudice subsequent proceedings. Contempt of court. Next headline..."Top cop says looks like she did it", then "Judge agrees with top cop...Guilty". Never EVER get on the wrong side of the law here. You could end up on the wrong end of a rope.

Was the potassium cyanide found in tea bags as the headline states? This is a Yes/No question. You're answer then is either yes or no. I will restate the question. Was the potassium cyanide found in tea bags?

As it's an investigation which will no-doubt go on for some time as new witnesses come forward one wonders why the media frenzy with every detail of what's happening being printed.

I'm all for free press but this is an ongoing investigation and the press should be told nothing at the moment.

No. "... in three sachets that look like tea bags ..."

There is a world of difference. The sub editors are a joke. They're writing their copy based on a photograph of the bag. Referring to it as looking like a teabag is seriously prejudicial to the accused. "Fancy a cuppa, darlin'? Oh look, here's a tea bag...". Premeditated intent.

Indeed. The article states "looks like..." There's a big difference between is and looks like. Just amatuers posing as journos.

Bit like this headline from Monday.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra gives birth to her first child
