relocating Udon to Rayong, movers needed, but where to find?

Hi all,

We are relocating from Udon Thani area (Phen)  to Rayong area (Ban Chang).  (=/- 700km)
3,5 months of severe air pollution is too much to handle with COPD.
Apparently its more difficult to find a moving company, then to find a new home!!

Do they even exist in Thailand?? ????

Deliveree seems nice, and friendly priced (15K thb) , yet.... time is starting to run out and they haven't found a 6W truck+ driver
AlliedThailand, apparently they can do, except their price is 35.000 thb..

I'm combing the internet... without success.

If anyone has a tip, know someone, have used or otherwise can be helpful 
will be much appreciated!!

perhaps you can provide me with search terms that won't provide me with ONLY (mostly) companies for relocating from other countries to Thailand...
the 3 that are shown I have contacted. 
thaimovers seem to be dead since 2018

No, for western standards 35.000 thb for 700 km isn't a bad price in Europe.
Deliveree gave me a quote of 13K, including overnight, 2 helpers and all "extra's" 
while that might be too cheap, as they can't find anyone yet, a price of 15-20.000 should be doable.

6W truck, 7M, an assistant for loading / unloading.

Up to you but doesn't seem too drastic and they're available.

 

Insurance is also another point to consider. What happens if the truck crashes and all your belongings are spread across the highway? Have you considered this?

 

If 35k is too spicy, can you negotiate?

Ask and get someone local then if you have tried the internet already.

I've tried a few others last week, sadly most are international only... no domestic ????

deliveree and AlliedThailand both have insurance included.

I thought the costs would be 20-30k, perhaps a bit cheaper for the 700 km,
The 13k from deliveree seemed like a really good deal, good reviews and all.

That made me reset my pricing view to 15-20k, as I have no idea what normal domestic relocation costs are in Thailand.
Some things are so uncomfortable cheap, and others amazing unexpected expensive.

i asked for a quotation now from asiantigersgroup.
And will see how that will be.

ask local expats help.

my wife, family & friends, if anyone ever relocated from a room to an other room, a pickup truck would suffice, and that goes for everyone they know in the village as well.
I have helped several times people moving.

Heck, a raised bed with mattress is an unseen luxury in these parts.
"western style" relocation services???

No, I haven't.

I did look about the price for the motorcycle, that isn't so bad.

 

Mattress, whole kitchen, refrigerator, kitchen table, cabinets, 5 x Aircon, Washing machine, the whole shebang:-)

Even the bathtub ????

(I know.. I'm spoiled, living off grid and even have a bathtub)

24 solar panels, inverter, lithium batteries (6 x 75kg)  (40 kWh)

40-50 boxes (50*50*50cm)

bicycles, motorcycle, E-scooter.

 

Still leaving a lot behind.

Obviously the house, water (50m deep water bore) ,enough solar & 14 kWh lithium. 

Future will tell if/when we will live there again.

 

While most of the stuff came with a normal pickup, it would take a quite a chain of trucks to move all the stuff ????

 

if it all could fit in 1 or 2 pickup..

or if it was just 200 km or so..

not a problem.

I feel bad for those in Chang Mai and Chang Rai, they had it even worse then we did.

 

Post office would be an option if there wasn't too many stuff to relocate.

A motorcycle is about 1300 THB if I remember correctly.

Adding all the rest of "bigger" things.. 

Not really an option.

Yes, thaimovers website doesn't seem dead. They "forgot" to turn of the website server.
Their line account "@thaimovers" can not be found, Facebook last post 2018, phone number disconnected.
Here in de middle of nowhere we frequently have spotty service, that Truemobile sometimes say "number no longer available" so that might just be us. They didn't respond to email.

While several people might think "how hard can this be" ...
Exactly!! my thoughts as well...

Several of the sites have only international option, or only Bangkok area 200-250 km range.
Even when not specified like this...
When you receive quotations of +60K, (or no response) its a polite way for Thais to say "not interested"

Results so far:
Asiantigers +60K

Blufoxrelocation +60K
Alliedthailand +35K

Mr. Chart (Rayong area) 16K (0954326340 (looked like 5M truck)
Deliveree 14K (include 2 movers, 700*230*230 6W "box" truck, + overnight)

All the same 700 km distance.
For mr. Chart, I don't know insurance, the rest have it included in the price.
 

It took Deliveree about a week to find a driver, what can be is stressful as you can book only 14 days ahead of time. They have a great app what makes tings a bit easier.
Fun fact... The driver contacted us to go outside "Deliveree" system, lower price...

Actually a longer lists, but these promote domestic relocation... 

 

I have relocated several times in my life, and I'm used to packing my boxes myself, preparing the furniture, and often drive the truck myself. It's the way most people relocate in The Netherlands.
As student this is the normal way:

not 700 km ????

And usually rent a truck like this :

that is allowed to drive with normal drivers license.
Friends and neighbors help load and unload, also great for "noaberschap" aka meeting and bonding with the new neighborhood. 

Only extremely rich folks and relocations on request of a company are "all arranged" "white glove".
Lol... You can leave a half full glass on the table, after relocating, the same glass with drink will be on the table again... They pack and relocate everything.
I had this once, 25 years ago, 150km, price back then roughly 165K THB, for now that would be 285K (inflation index)
That's Holland, this is Thailand, so it will be different ????
Even then, I felt those prices where absurd, 3 times my net monthly salary at that time.

I don't know how it is in other countries.
For USA I see people buying / renting usually houses with furniture.
This obviously can be the picture Hollywood paint, and reality will be different.

For me, knowing what average wages are in Thailand, fuel consumption, and other costs involved..
Anything above say 25-30K THB is "unrealistic high". 

We choose Deliveree.
Probably even would have chosen them if it was +25K.
Good English helpdesk and a good clean app.

As it took them a long time to find a driver, we reached out to find alternatives due to this. 
Bangkok area, for most its probably easy to find a company.
For those that live outside the "hot spot"....
A LOT more challenging then anticipated!

Most Thai use a hired 6 wheel truck who in turn hires a helper or 2 for such movements.  Here in Bangkok they park on some side streets with signs on the side advertising for hire and any taxi/MC driver would be able to find.  Upcountry suspect just asking around a bit would find.  No there would likely not be any insurance involved, as with most things in Thailand.  And you might want to ride in truck if concerned.
