The solution would be: Away with the Senators...they are not needed.
Changes in the constitution can be only made with a 2/3 or 3/4 majority in parliament and major changes need a single issue public referendum where a majority of all voters approve it.
Than there is no need anymore for any Senators as safety against elected bad guys.

Thailand had unicameral parlimentary system numerous times since 1932. The bicameral system favoured by the establishment/military strengthened their power. The upper house encapsulates all that is wrong with Thailand political system and their disregards for the basic democratic principle of representation and majority voices. A unicameral system is the solution for Thailand. The financial costs of having the Senators alone is astronomical  high of over 1 billion Baht per year which can be better spent for education.

Thailand’s election system is effectively rigged through the use of 250 military appointed ultra conservative senators who are under strict instructions to only vote for and approve military parties.

Look how Thailand developed in compare to similar countries...Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia...so I would say it worked very well since 1932.

Given Move Forward Party leader Pita's uncle is a close advisor to Thaksin, this merger should go smoothly.  Quote Wiki: He is the nephew of Padung Limjaroenrat, a former secretary to the Interior Minister and a close aide of then Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

As far as will he be better than the General? Likely, as long as he doesn't make returning Thaksin a top priority or doing like Thaksin did, appointing family members as head of Army and Police.

A bit more background on Pita aka Tim:

“New-generation politicians have to hit their wives, forbid them from befriending gay men and tomboys, and place them under a curfew after six,” reads Parina’s post.

Why comments from the foul-mouthed, banned from politics, corrupt Pareena have any credibility is beyond me

Well it is protecting Monarchy, Religion and Country (not Military) and there is nothing wrong with that.

Why have elections then?

??? Because Thailand is neither an absolute Monarchy nor a Theocracy. Within the framework the people decide with elections. But they can't vote to change Thailand in a communist peoples republic or an Islamic republic. That is not democratic, but pretty much the same in every country. Most countries can't change the fundamentals of their constitution without a revolution or coup.

Pheu Thai will be working feverishly behind the scenes trying to make sure their candidate ends up as PM, while publicly saying they will support Pita and Move Forward

And if that does not work, they'll stay close behind the PM to be ready with the knife to backstab when there is an opportunity.

Anutin Charnvirakul served in the Thaksin administration and was a member of the Thai Rak Thai party (and had a five year ban as a result), so he/BJT might also fit in a coalition government.
