Popular Post onthedarkside
There is a paradox at the heart of our changing climate. While the blanket of air close to the Earth’s surface is warming, most of the atmosphere above is becoming dramatically colder. The same gases that are warming the bottom few miles of air are cooling the much greater expanses above that stretch to the edge of space. This paradox has long been predicted by climate modelers, but only recently quantified in detail by satellite sensors. Popular Post placeholder
As the scientists involved with this research noted, if anyone, contrary to reason, needed any further proof that the global warming we are now experiencing is human-caused, this should put an end to that. If solar cycles were responsible, as a few recalcitrant diehards and the millions who subscribe to their views maintain, then the atmosphere would be heating throughout. But, as even the early models in the 70's predicted, as the troposphere warmed, the rest of the atmosphere would cool. Which is exactly what is occurring. 3 1 1

Popular Post placeholder
Well, even though the research isn't from an unbiased left wing University, as those of us capable of reading past the headlines know, but rather from a study published in PNAS from a researcher at Wood Hole Oceanographic Institution, it still provides undeniable evidence that the rapid rate of warming the earth's atmosphere is now experiencing is human caused. The fact that the upper atmosphere is cooling while the lower atmosphere is warming is proof of that. Of course, if you can offer a rational hypothesis in opposition to that, and not one raoted in accusations of bias and dishonesty, please share your ideas with us. To help you formulate your alternative, you might want to start by actually reading the article rather than continuing to offer nothing but Pavlovian reactions to headlines and publishing venues. Your notion doesn't explain why the upper atmosphere is actually getting cooler.

talahtnut
We can't rely on a group of scientist without hearing from other scientists. Scientist argue all the time, as I'm sitting next to a log fire in Old Blighty, waiting for the planet to heat up, and missing Pattykins.

There was a time for debate about human-caused climate change, but the time has passed. The evidence is overwhelming. Almost no climatologists doubt the evidence now and those who do are mostly old and past it.
