Which passport country?

Some embassies have stopped providing that "letter"

Oz being one.

Think USA have also stopped.

Canada

What do i call that  paper, and immi seems dead set on getting it (rayong branch)

If they dont give it what is the work around?

Quite probably an agent.

They can usually come to an "understanding" with Immigration. The fee may well be competitive with what the Embassy charges, especially if they ( the Embassy) require you to present yourself in person.

Curious enough... in rayong, mapthaput, there are no agents. i havent a clue as to why, but that is the way it is.

USA embassy provided a document for me November 2022 when I went through the process didn't have to request it, it was included with return of old and new passport.

The US embassy here stopped providing the standard "transfer letter" only 2-3 months ago.

I'm Cdn, just had PP replaced at Cdn Embassy, Bkk.  I got the stamp and Thai Immigration accepted it.

The US has since ceased providing those letters, and announced the change on the Embassy's  website.

Easiest is to ask the Embassy. They deal with this regularly.

U.S. Embassy definitely has stopped.  Huge time-waster of a bureaucratic exercise, as the Thai Immi folks can just look at the passports.

When I did mine, immigration never even looked at the letter, just handed it straight back.

For most countries the "embassy letter" is handed to you with the new passport.

It was a general statement.

Just gives Thai immigration permission to transfer any stamps and visa information.

I suggest that you tell io at Rayong that your embassy no longer provides letter see if that floats.

Note: the transfer of stamps should be done at immigration office where they were issued.

Aussie  embassy puts a stamp in your old PP. and Imm accepts that.

You can apply online now so the Embassy won't have your old passport.

The Oz Embassy don't miss you either.

$471.00 for a passport is rude IMO.

My Thai partner recently renewed her Thai 10 year passport.

Cost: 1500b = $65 aud.

She applied dec 19 and it arrived dec 21 at our condo via post.
