Visiting Phuket over this weekend and just sat down at a restaurant and was slapped with "cannot...no an-con-hol today". Walking Street has plenty of confused tourists looking at all the shuttered bars and clubs. Why ❓❗❓ Regardless of reason...

Local Patong council election ....

Just walk 100 yards down the road to a mom-and-pop shop they will sell you some booze.

your in the wrong area ....  no problem anywhere else,   already got 6 bottles. 

There was one of these local election in Udon Thani a couple of weeks back. Since the electoral boundary ran down the street, there was the bizarre situation where bars and restaurants on one side of the street were prohibited from selling alcohol while the 7-eleven and a hotel opposite them could.

Plenty in the minibar, in the room. Here on a weekend getaway and wanted a few draughts outside and a bottle of wine with dinner in a restaurant. Ended up bringing 7-11 food back to the room and red wine from the minibar. Saved me some baht fo sho❗????
