A tragic car accident claimed the life of a 30 years old woman in Chonburi province when her vehicle lost control, collided with a footpath, and rolled several times. The incident took place near a company in the Panthong district, with witnesses providing harrowing accounts of the scene. This incident was reported to the Phan Thong police station at 5.30am, on June 17, 2023.

The vehicle involved was a Toyota Corolla bearing licence plate number Cole 5924, Chonburi. The extensively damaged car was found on its roof, with the deceased woman, Saowalak (surname withheld), trapped underneath. Authorities had to spend about an hour using cutting tools to retrieve her body. A preliminary examination revealed a broken neck and multiple injuries on the body.

An 18 years old witness, Phi (pseudonym), shared his account of the accident, stating that he saw the car speed along the right lane, suddenly swerve off the road, and proceed to flip multiple times. He immediately alerted emergency services to provide assistance.

Ketnika (surname withheld), the owner of a food stall near the accident site, expressed her shock after witnessing the crash and asked her husband to attend to the scene while she awaited emergency personnel. A rescuer, 33 years old Jirasak Photichlang, explained that upon receiving the notification, he rushed to the scene where he found the victim’s body pinned under the vehicle, necessitating the use of cutting tools to free her.

It's more the drivers being "accident prone" than the road

  • Perhaps using the seat belt instead of her phone might have saved her life?

She lost control of the car, not the car lost control .

Where did it state that she wasn't wearing a seat belt?

Where did it state that she was using her phone?

Car-rolla.

Now I know where they got the name.

Almost hourly we hear of deaths from speeding.  This crime is surely the easiest to deter via CCTV cameras?  Oh and a police force.

How would CCTV cameras deter speeders ?

Not in Thailand mate, its Always the cars fault, the car did this, the car did that, never the driver.

Had she used the seat belt she would probably been strapped to the seat. Regarding the phone, very many drivers use their phones while driving.

Speed, impatience and MOBILE PHONE = accidents!

Hope the investigators check the driver's log.

Speed is a given but how do you know she was impatient and using her phone ?

Quite. Not far from us, it is a dangerous area. Several long straight roads with little traffic leads to vehicles travelling too fast. Early morning and maybe late for work, the temptation a bit too much. Wouldn't be out of the question to have hit a pothole and lost control.

If she was speeding, then she was impatient.

I did not say that she WAS using her phone, but a check of her log will determine that.

I speed everywhere, does this make me impatient ?

Falang perception, guilty till proven innocent.

It would have been dark which gives rise to several scenarios where control of a speeding vehicle could be lost.

Let's not let the facts or  lack there of get in the way.         :passifier:

On which side of a clear road should you drive in Thailand at 5.30am please?

Witness Phi (not real name) says she was on the right.

Yes it makes you both impatient and an unsafe driver!

Guess it depends on Phi's location at the time.

If behind then yes the right side would be the wrong side.

No he didn't.  "he saw the car speed along the right lane"

You are assuming he meant "wrong".
