Thai children losing out on height due to too little milk

Featured Replies

He was mistaken. Tofu does have all the essential amino acids our body can't make on it's own,  making it a complete protein, which can repair and build cells.

Rubbish. Humans are NOT meant to drink cow's milk. This was a bullsh!t campaign from the dairy conglomerates decades ago, same as the C&H pure cane sugar monsters.

Maybe if the stopped meddling with milk by adding flavourings and other rubbish and actually sponsored natural fresh milk they might be more interested.

Kids are losing out on more than just height there. They are losing out on many many things due to the corruption and many other issues with the govt.

The percentage of “short” Thai teenagers has increased from 9.5% to 10.4% over the past years. And that short stature can be attributed to inadequate milk intake.

Obviously - and the link to the study showing that 'inadequate milk intake by Thai children conclusively decreases their statue?"
"A recent study carried out by the DoH, Unicef Thailand and Suan Dusit Rajabhat University involving children aged 6-19 found that the majority of Thai children drink an average of one glass of milk a day, he added."

So - Link to studies that conclusively conclude that Thai children drink too little milk and that if they drank more milk they would be taller???  Otherwise it is not attributed as well as being heresay.
And is being "taller" so sort of a new benchmark?  If you're short you are somehow less adequate then 'taller' Thais perhaps.

As well - are there any 'conflicts of interest' between the milk industry and certain "pro-milk" doctors?  Just wondering out loud.  If there isn't then no problem.  If there are conflicts of interest, then they should be highlighted.

Please explain. Tofu has a higher protein content than milk.

as for other foods above, they are more suited to growing i  the tropics.

Remember milk was not readily available in Thailand too....until an industry was set up About 40 years ago.. How many dairy farms do you see around Thailand?

What's your favourite Thai cheese?

Tofu, although it is one of the few plant-based proteins to have all 9 essential amino acids, has about 1/3 the protein content of chicken. Domestic cheese in fact is available in Thailand. I buy cheddar at Foodland. It isn't aged, so it's not as good as European cheese, but it's still better than processed cheese for such things as homemade pizza or enchiladas and significantly cheaper. Domestic cream cheese is also available and since it doesn't need to be aged, it's pretty much equivalent to Western cream cheese.
