Popular Post Social Media Posted June 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 22, 2023 The president reminded Second Amendment supporters on Tuesday night that they would "need an F-16" to oppose the American government. Biden underlined the idea that Americans do not need AR-15s in his speech at a California fundraiser event where he discussed gun violence in the country. Biden emphasized that "we must change." The majority of Americans concur that there is no need for a weapon of war, so there are many things we can modify. I support the Second Amendment. I spent six years at law school and four years teaching it. And what's this? It does not state that you may possess any firearms you like. It claims there are some weapons you simply cannot own. Even during when it was passed, you couldn’t own a cannon. You can’t own a machine gun.… No, I’m serious." ""You know, I love these guys who say the Second Amendment is — you know, the tree of liberty is water with the blood of patriots. Well, if [you] want to do that, you want to work against the government, you need an F-16. You need something else than just an AR-15," he added. Biden further asserted that the AR-15's widespread use among firearm manufacturers is due to its low cost of production and huge margins of profit. "You know one of the reasons why the AR-15 is so strongly supported by so many folks in that — in that industry? Number one, it’s the cheapest weapon to make and it’s the highest profit motive they have for any weapon that is made. It makes more money to sell an AR-15 than any other weapon you can buy," he said. Similar to earlier this year, when he told those gathered at the National Action Network's annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in Washington that those who support the use of AR-15s will need a much larger arsenal to stand a chance against the government, Biden said the same thing on Tuesday. bamnutsak Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Well, where does the "limit", if one exists, reside re: the right to keep and bear arms? Why can't I ring up my Raytheon sales-person, assuming I pass the credit test, and order a Patriot Missile battery, you know, to protect my home from the gummint, or those suspiciously dark-skinned folks? I mean that aspect of the 2A, which some interpret to mean I need to protect myself from the black helicopters, is a bit nut-so. I'll never have as much ammo as the gummint. I agree the F-16 comment is weird; those need a pilot. Just gimme a drone or three, and more guns than I can hold at once, and I'm happy. 1 1
Popular Post Hanaguma Posted June 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 22, 2023 What a clown. Makes them where you can have a higher-caliber weapon — a higher-caliber bullet coming out of that gun. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2023/06/16/remarks-by-president-biden-at-the-national-safer-communities-summit/ The AR and similar platforms are popular because they are fun to shoot, the bullets cost less than regular rifles, and they are very customizable. 1 2 1 1

And just why do you want those drones and guns? Since drones did not exist when the 2nd amendment was implemented (1791) are you trying to say you have a right to own and use them either weaponised or not?

I'm not trying to say that, the SCOTUS has said that (more or less). If weapons which existed in 1791 were the only ones allowed now then I think we'd all be happy, and safer. Gimme my musket with that high volume magazine. And where can I get a bigger cannon? 1

No surprise because he is absolutely right Nope, I corrected him about the AR15 and weapons like it. They are not the cheapest- shotguns are far cheaper. His argument is facile and weak. But not surprising, considering he was speaking to a room full of California democrats that he wanted to get money from. Love also how he mangles and misquotes Thomas Jefferson; "I love my right-wing friends who talk about the tree of liberty is water of the blood of patriots," The correct quote is ; "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." 1 2
