Accident Child Dies After Being Accidentally Run Over by Father’s Pickup Truck
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. An incident in Buri Ram province has left a one-year-old girl dead and her family devastated after she was run over by her father’s pickup truck. Police were alerted by Phutthaisong Hospital on the morning of 22 July, after a young child was declared dead upon arrival. Officers from Phutthaisong Police Station, led by Pol. Lt. Chamrat Suebsamran, responded to the call and attended the hospital, where they found the lifeless body of a one-year-old girl, identified only as “A” for privacy. Medical staff confirmed that the child had sustained fatal injuries, including tyre marks across her face and bruising along her body. It was later established that she had been struck by a reversing pickup truck at her home. The driver was revealed to be the girl’s father, 37-year-old Mr. Yothin, an air-conditioning technician. Reports indicate that he was preparing to leave for work that morning and, as part of his routine, was also due to take his four-year-old son to school. Unbeknownst to him, his youngest daughter had run behind the vehicle as he was reversing. According to Ms. Ketsara, 50, a relative of the family, the little girl had followed her father out of the house unnoticed. Moments later, she was struck as he backed the vehicle out of the driveway. Upon realising what had happened, Mr. Yothin, in a state of panic, immediately rushed his daughter and the child’s grandmother to the hospital, but the child had already succumbed to her injuries. Both the father and grandmother were reported to be in a state of shock upon learning from medical staff that the child could not be saved. Mr. Yothin was not present at the scene when police arrived, as he was receiving emotional support following the traumatic incident. Local authorities are continuing to investigate, though it is understood that the incident was a tragic accident with no foul play suspected. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-07-23 -
