Occupation lockdown: Thailand’s Labour Ministry draws the line for foreigners, 27 out, 13 in the conditions

The Ministry of Labour in Thailand outlined a list of 40 occupations that are off-limits for foreigners, with 27 being completely restricted and 13 permitted under certain conditions. These occupations are classified into four categories, aiming to address the shortage of local labour in areas where Thai nationals show less interest, particularly in light of the large-scale arrival of foreign workers from Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.

Warehouse fire in Nonthaburi draws over 50 fire engines, suspicion points to electrical short circuit

On the night of yesterday, a significant warehouse inferno required the urgent coordination of over 50 fire engines and greater than one hundred firemen, to bring the fire under control after an arduous 90 minutes. The suspected cause of the warehouse fire outbreak points to an electrical short circuit.

Elderly man and young woman severely injured in Phuket accident

A tragic biking accident occurred yesterday on Thepkrasattri Road in Phuket, which involved an elderly man and a young woman. Seventy-three year old Anek Amnuaychokchai was eagerly boarding a songthaew when he was struck by a motorbike riding at high speed.

Chon Buri van collision leaves 5 injured in early morning accident

In the early hours of this morning, a collision between two vans in Chon Buri province led to five people being injured. Police and emergency services from Samed Police Station were alerted to the crash at a red light intersection in Samed, Mueang Chon Buri, at around 5am.

Prachachat party leader Wan Muhamad Noor Matha is appointed as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Move Forward constituency MP Padipat Suntiphada as the first deputy speaker and Pheu Thai constituency MP Pichet Chuamuangphan as the second deputy.

Over 19,000 fire extinguishers in Bangkok need to be replaced

More than 19,000 of the 44,000 fire extinguishers, distributed by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to communities, district offices, volunteer units and public disaster prevention and mitigation offices in the capital, are in a bad condition and need to be replaced.
