MOVE FORWARD LEADER/PRIME minister-designate Pita Limjaroenrat said today (July 8th) certain non-coalition MPs and some senators might probably pick him for head of government not because of him as an individual politician or anything about his progressive party as a whole but because they may only mean to observe the voters’ consensus.

Pita said those non-coalition MPs and senators who might probably vote for him to take the helm of government might as well resolve to pay an ultimate respect for the principles of democratic rule under which a consensus of a majority of voters in last May’s general election be seriously taken into account.

Pita said those lawmakers who might jump onto the bandwagon of a majority of MPs to pick him for prime minister during the upcoming Thursday’s joint House/Senate meeting would probably mean to put such democratic principles above unresolved concerns over himself as leader of the Move Forward or any of their political ideologies manifested during nationwide electoral campaigns.

voter consensus?

a voter consensus is like 70/80/90 %

they got 28% of the voter

62% voted for other parties....

by no mean that is any consensus

14 Million vote for MF

13 Million did not vote

10 Million vote PTP

4.5 Million voted UTNP

2 Million voted no/blank/invalid

That is a complete non consensus, actually people who don't vote, no vote, blank, invalid....mean they don't want any party would have won

I dont think you know the meaning of consensus !!!!  this is what it means a generally accepted opinion or decision among a group of people and to me MF has a consensus of the people acording to ur figures  MF won the election

yes the MF has a consensus between themself.....but not between the Thai people because already next to them the PTP is trying to undermine that and the opposition of course has a complete other opinion. The senators most probably not agree as well.

So that is not a consensus....

WOW so You are speaking for the Thai people

again you are talking rubbish

Thailand had an election if you remember and MFP did not get an overwhelming majority of Thai people to vote for them...just a 28% with several groups almost as strong....some very opposed....not a consensus. A consensus is a general agreement. Which is not the case here.

I really like to know how you are stating that the Thai people dont have a consensus,  have you taken a survey of the people ???? dont just rely on the figure you have quoted all that could of changed, all we have is that MF is trying to form a goverment and that goverment will represent ALL the thai people, and that is all the artical is saying A General agreement  if you dont agree tuff

So true h90, a non vote in this case is a no vote. Pita does not have the consensus. Lets hope the senators realize this and have more sense not to elect this progressive to be PM.

he has by far the most votes in the election, but he has no majority. So it is all a question of negotiations.

If he get PM, as much as I would not want to see that, it would be complete democratic and right. If there is a other coalition it would be also democratic.

I think he is the wrong way for Thailand....but he got most votes, that can't be ignored.

It would be interesting to rerun the election today. I suspect that MFP would get over 50% of votes.

But of course we'll never know.

I would think they get less, because they did many things their votes may not like. But hard to tell, I could be wrong with that.

A Non vote is a NON vote, this is your opionion but totally incorrect  it very obvious  you have no idea  Thais are very lazy a lot dont give a damm thats why a lot did not vote, but MF won the election and hopfully can form a goverment and that will represent the whole of the thai people
