He is still pulling the strings and with the problems Pita is having a pardon for him is the main objective. 

If Thailand does not get a freely elected Gov't we will all be serving (another) 10 years .... of little progress.

Of course he isn't coming back now .He's got to wait and see who's going to be the nextPM and then he can Try to Bribe the PM if he can come back and not go to Jail.

The initial scheme was to protect the farmers from the scrupolus middlemen.  Unfortunately, it went wrong with countless bad players, many in the current junta included.

When the army came with rubber bullets and tear gas several got shot and killed with grenade launcher....than the military had to step back to bring the guns....and than they infact killed red shirts in the battle.....that the red shirts shot first not the military just went in to kill people. And still the military was not fast enough to prevent them to burn down many buildings. Can't blame the military for that.
(But you can blame Abhisit....he could have easily prevent that....)

Again, what specific parts of his post are distorted? 

 

The post did not mention anything about who fired first and if we are arguing that point, it was the military that fired first when the protests were elsewhere in the city. The army were pictured on TV shooting live ammo at protesters while Abhisit was on TV saying no live rounds were being used. The M16's the soldiers were using cannot fire blanks without the proper suppressors being fitted. 

 

Not all people killed in the army assault at Rajaprasong were red shirts, journalists, nurses, and civilians were killed as well, and it has never been properly investigated or anyone held accountable.

The red shirts have been effectively shot (ok maybe around hundred people doesn't qualify as massacre).

Suthep did try to overthrow an elected government (even only a caretaker government ) in order to replace it with an unelected government of his choice, and did all he could do to block elections of a new government. After he failed to do so, and after the courts fail to oust the whole government, then the coup occurred in order to make sure the people would be prevented to elect a new government in July 2014.

A legally elected prime minister is a fugitive

And a dictator is legal

The new government will see that Thaksin's gets a fair trial, which, in all likelihood will result in not guilty verdicts - the trumped up convictions will be quashed.

Thaksin will live out his days as a flawed yet revered elder statesman in Thailand whilst Prayuth and his co conspirators will spend the rest of their days......

He must have played Monopoly recently

 

Love him or hate him, he probably has the best overview ( intelligence network and contacts) of the current Thai political situation. He has likely concluded that his implacable enemies are staying in place.
