On July 23, 2023, under the direction of Police Lieutenant General Phakphum Pipit, Commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB), a joint operation successfully apprehended a Chinese man attempting to smuggle methamphetamine (ice) at Suvarnabhumi Airport while preparing to leave the country.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Wang Wei (alias), aged 42, a Chinese national, was wanted by the People's Republic of China for drug trafficking. Customs authorities in Beijing revealed that on December 21, 63, Mr. Wang Wei, along with Ms. Wei (alias), a Chinese woman, smuggled 3,311.3 grams of ice into Thailand by sea. On February 19, 64, the Chinese authorities issued arrest warrants for both individuals, but Mr. Wang Wei managed to evade capture, leaving China.

Further investigations using information from the national information technology system revealed that Mr. Wang Wei had entered Thailand multiple times, most recently with a 15-day tourist visa. Despite his questionable conduct, Thai immigration had not revoked his visa. However, upon discovering the arrest warrant issued by a foreign government, the NSB decided to revoke Mr. Wang Wei's permission to stay in the kingdom.

Authorities coordinated efforts to locate him at his residence and popular Chinese tourist destinations in Bangkok and other provinces. In a remarkable turn of events, Mr. Wang Wei's capture unfolded at Suvarnabhumi Airport while he was anxiously anticipating authorization for his departure from the nation.

Swiftly, the authorities revoked his visa, leading to his immediate transfer into the hands of the Immigration Bureau, where the course of further legal actions awaited.

He's toast.

Despite TM-30 and every other futile program Thai Immigration/police were unable to locate him until he walked into their grasp at the airport. Then they "pounced", i.e. got lucky.

I didn't see it saying he was going China, just that he was leaving the Country. Maybe USA to make a few quid.

Ice? Did they catch him because it was melting???

So he was originally wanted for smuggling ice into Thailand?

Isn't that like smuggling cocaine into Columbia?

More than 50 grams equals a bullet in the back of the head.

They give them lethal injection in the back of a van now, not shoot them.

So smuggling 3.1 Kilos of Ice is questionable conduct. The question probably being Where's our payoff?

Dumb and dumber. Darwin was right. The theory of natural selection, means we all have to exhibit certain survival skills, to thrive in this world. Self protection is just one of those skills. Some have it, some do not. Darwin insisted that some species and some members of those species were more fit for survival and self preservation than others. This clown does not appear to be particularly fit. Spending many years in a Thai prison is not a good way to preserve one's well being. Or a Chinese prison. Take your pick. Which would you prefer? See ya!

I was wondering about that too. If so, then the headline is pretty misleading: "Chinese Man Arrested Smuggling Ice at Suvarnabhumi Airport..."

More likely he picked it up in Bkk hoping to smuggle it out. He  would have been picked him up on Entry into Thailand.

That's how much it will cost !

Brown bread.

Most likely it was mixed with a cheap material and sold as pure stuff.
