Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is the most visited city in the world so far this year, with around 22 million international arrivals, according to a survey by the Travelness travel blog. More detailed data reveal tourist patterns, such as an average stay of 4.7 nights and an average spend of US$173 per day.

Bangkok is more affordable than other cities in the top 20 and is well-known for its colourful street life, food and cultural wonders, such as the Grand Palace and Wat Arun.

 

The city has something for everyone, from high end shopping malls to low-cost street markets. Its bustling nightlife and street food are famous around the world and the city serves as a gateway to other parts of Thailand, such as the beaches of Phuket, Koh Samui and Pattaya.

where is Rome? it's a 100x more interesting than Bangkok

Bangkok Post this morning is saying 15 million arrivals so far this year. Here it says 22 million arrivals so far this year. Why such a massive difference?

Might find out today, going to a TAT do at Sirikit Centre, only for the concert of course, Anne Oradee and Boy Sivachai, that will be costing them a bit, so looks like a Thai tourist promotion

Las Vegas....?

Enormous TAT event at new Siriikit centre in Bkk, strangely not much about tourism, more like a huge OTOP do. Lots of stalls selling silk, silver, baskets and clothes you would not be seen dead in, and food, lots of food. TAT did have a small station, attracting nobody, saw 2 other foreigners. Concert very good

I flat-out do not believe the OP. The website of this "travel blog" of which I had never heard has a similar "top 10"of countries visited and Thailand doesn't make the list with the UAE listed at no 10 on 11.5m visitors.

So twice as many people visit Bangkok as visit Thailand?  Pull this one...........

Totally totally different, like comparing Mangos and Pears. Surprised you like Rome as it’s expensive,

ok so 15 million divide by jello subtract 22 million and you have this place in a nut shell.

I see no one else mentioned it - Bangkok is a hub for folks to travel on to OTHER Asian countries. They count everyone doing a layover in Bangkok, so those numbers can be wildly skewed.

The source in that link has been deleted. They don't seem to have any others. Plus they say 2022-2023. All complete garbage. They're a travel agent.

It isn't Bangkok per se but more likely arrivals at swampy  who then get a connecting flight elsewhere.

So, half way through day 4 they had had enough of the city and run off ! Bangkok is about as attractive to me as London. 1 day is too long.

Tat in the UK.

Dictionary meaning: Tat , "anything that looks cheap, is of low quality , or in bad condition".

Because Bangkok airport is a transit airport and they count all travellers flying through as visitors!!!!????????????????5555

Not sure why Prague, my favourite City, or Lisbon, or San Francisco not on that list
