A Spanish chef has been arrested by police , suspected to have killed and dismembered the body of his Colombian male lover in a hotel room on Koh Phangan.


The body was found last week by garbage collectors, DNA was used to identify  the body of a 44 year old Colombian national, The 27 year old suspect admitted to the killing, the suspects father is a well known personality in Spain and is believed to be travelling to Thailand.

 

Police yesterday defused a homemade bomb that was placed inside a police compound in Yala, The devise,  a gas cylinder, had some electronics attached to it, and could have been detonated remotely.
Two other devices exploded in the south over the weekend causing minor injuries.


Authorities in Phuket are investigating several oil slicks and tar balls found on several beaches last Friday, they believe were caused by shipping dumping oil. The Department of National Parks will file a complaint with police today so the source can be tracked down. 

 

Former prime ministers Thaksin and sister Yingluck Shinawat flew to Phnom Penh to join Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on his 71st birthday party over the weekend.

 

The director of Hua Hin Airport said yesterday expansion will continue to enable international flights, however there are still safety concerns, which need to be addressed to bring the airport up to International Civil Aviation Organisation standards. Additional budget approval and work could take the best part of 2 years to complete.

China: At least 23 people were injured and dozens of buildings collapsed, after a shallow 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck the eastern part of the country.


The quake was felt as far away as Beijing and Tianjin, as well as in Shanghai, about 800 km from the epicenter.
This was the strongest to hit the province in more than a decade,
