JUST weeks after after a female passenger’s left leg was severed till the knee upon being swallowed by a moving walkway at Don Mueang Airport a young man working for a convenience store located in a popular department store in Pathum Thani injured his right leg after his shoe got stuck in an escalator there, Naewna newspaper said this morning (Aug. 17).

At 8 a.m. the manager of this convenience store was informed of his employee being injured after his shoe got trapped by the escalator as he was going down to return home.

Reporters from this newspaper went to the scene of the accident where they saw a shoe stuck in the moving staircase while store staff were investigating and repairing it.

Looks like a dodgy escalator at best..opening on the side is inviting all sorts of trouble....but..it's likely been that way for ages by the look of the stains....

Only in Thailand I hardly read on other airports these incidents

The opening is because they took the cover off to repair it. That’s not how it normally is.

If he was going down why is the front of his shoe trapped. Was he standing backwards looking up?

I sense a lack of concentration, look before you leap!

Waving goodbye to the next shift.

It happens a lot in many countries where children are wearing plastic shoes. They think it is fun to rub there foot along the side of the escalator which heats and melts their shoes which then sticks to the tread. Seen it a number of times when I worked on escalators.

Maybe he thought the yellow lines along the sides are there for decoration, and not to warn people not to stand there.

And what cover would that be? The 'comb' is at the bottom of the escalator. That image appears to show treads before retraction.

In the civilized world flip flops and similar are not allowed on escalators, as far as I can remember

Timely reminder to me not to use escalators or Travelators in Thailand

Just like a car accident the final position may not be indicative of initial position - he could well have been facing Forwards and the shoe snagged and twisted into that position.

A better timely reminder to not wear rubbish soft footwear on escalators or travelators anywhere...  or just be very careful when you do... just like crossing a road anywhere really.

You mean the Hoi Palloi are stopped from using the escalators in Harrods in their Gucci thongs ?

At Heathrow the the g-string bourgeois are stoped from using the travelators in their Havaianas before taking their flights to Magaluf ?

I was referring the cover at the side, the other commenter was saying how it’s full of stains too. The stains are just oil/grease. There is suppose to be another cover with a brush guard that they took off, hence you see the stains / grease.

me think he want new shoes
