Smart Home automations - anybody using?
Any Home Assistant users willing to post their dashboards? I am focusing on energy monitoring at the moment. Which I have added into my Living-room page as this is where my display will be mounted. I have downloaded the Power Flow Cards Plus from HACS. It is similar to the official HA Energy Distribution Card, but far easier to manipulate. It has a cool animation showing power movement in your home that speeds up as you use more power. Due to the problems with the HA Growatt inverter integration I will have to splash out for a raspberry Pi from solar assistant to be able to add my full solar data and my EV bi-directional charging. -

Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
I only recently got involved in this discussion after it became apparent that foreigners would definitely be taxed (as of this writing). I found conflicting information on the TRD website, but it appears to not be up to date. Everything else I have read shows the larger deductions. All of that said, nothing has been finalized, so we still don't know what's what. -

Reasons of change
I'm never going to defend customers who don't tip what is a small amount, but certainly for me and my friends because we find the base prices reasonable and the quality of service good we all tip the Bolt drivers. Not everyone in town is the cheapest of charlies, far from it I suspect. On principle I never select the blue and yellow taxis on Bolt as I still see/hear them trying to gouge and pressure tourists fresh off the airport bus at Jomtien on a daily basis. I'm now using taxi services rather than the baht bus on occasion so from my perspective it's actually generating new extra business for drivers that wasn't there before because of past practices. As long as the blue and yellow taxis exist and refuse to use their meters you can still choose to use them and pay way over the odds for the cost of the service they provide. -

Last one first: The risk of detection issue applies to not just cc usage but to many aspects of PIT which is a totally separate exercise. Once everyone understands what the rules are, they can calculate their own exposure to risk, along with their own tolerance for risk, both of which may be unique to the individual. I have read a couple of reports about Thai taxation, written by the Asian Development Bank and the IMF but I can't recall the WB report which I doubt is that different. The things I have read suggest there is a structural issue with tax collection focussing on the some of the wrong areas, in order to preserve votes from incumbent governments. Giveaway and subsidies have been a massive feature of many governments over the past two decades, especially the Yingluk government. Indirect relief from tax by supplying subsidies and handouts, complement direct relief where personal income tax collection is not even targeted. That is now slowly changing as the TRD seeks to increase the tax net but it's a major cultural change also which needs to be taken slowly.- 1
