Non-immigrant-O visa (thai spouse) and passport expired

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have a non-immigrant-O (thai spouse), i did the extension on may 2023. My passport will expire on september 2023 so i renewed my passport this month (august 2023. Yesterday, i have been to the immigration office to show my new passport and to stamp it. I was surprised the officer told me that i have to do a new extension next month (september 2023) because my old passport was expired on septembre 2023. So, i  must provide all the documents, pay 1900 THB again (i paid on may 2023 already), show 400.000 THB on my bank account, etc.

Is it true that everyone must to do a new extension when the passport have been renewed ?

Thanks for your help

Cheers

There was a time when they would stamp your permitted to stay date same as expiry date of passport . Then when you presented a new passport they would give you the outstanding balance of the one year.

However that practice ceased years ago.
