A Thai park ranger named Sai took to social media to highlight an incident involving two Italian tourists who ignored official warnings and snorkeled in a restricted area, threatening the delicate coral reefs. Sai posted a video on Facebook and Instagram on February 27, expressing frustration, saying, "Can you do anything you want if you have money? Foreign tourists look down on Thai people."

In the video caption, Sai detailed how the tourists, suspected to be Italians, were found swimming in a closed-off area meant to let the coral reef recover after much of it died last year. Their actions not only endangered the reef but also themselves, as they were 700 meters from the beach without a guide.

Sai and the park rangers questioned the tourists about their travel agency, but received no answers. Even after being asked to stop their activities and return to the boat, the tourists refused. Officials eventually had to pull the tourists onto the boat to take them back to shore.

One of the tourists angrily shouted, "No! You are crazy. I paid for your… Last time in f*cking Thailand! Last time!" before the rangers escorted them closer to the beach.

Sai criticized the tourists' behavior and their apparent belief that money excuses them from following rules, calling it an insult to Thai people. He also voiced his frustration about Thailand's free-visa scheme, arguing it allows tourists in too easily and creates issues for locals and officials.

Though Sai threatened fines for their illegal actions, it remains unclear if the tourists were penalized. Some online commenters suggested legal action against the travel agency responsible for bringing the tourists to the protected site, reported The Thaiger.

Unfortunately this problem is caused by the Thai people asking them for money. Lots of officials in Thailand are corrupt. Many want their 'hand in the till'.

You do not see these type of visitors in Dubai, Malaysia, China, etc Would this tourist been so open in his behaviour in Dubai or China? Not a chance.

Ask yourself why they feel embolded to behave this way in Thailand ? Thailand is attracting low quality cheap thick tourists.

I think the visa schemes are getting better and will eventually become like Europe for asia cause thats just the way the world works… outlawing drugs in school zones doesn’t stop people from carrying their drugs in school zones!!!

rules don’t prevent bad behavior…. penalties and actions do. which thais dont like in person conflict so easier to make your case online,….

just arrest criminals and DBags and let the rest of us alone 🙂

So, what 'quality' tourists does Thailand get from your part of the world then?

Or are your lot so perfect and superior?

This may be true but, how about the problem caused by the tourists who believe. “this is alright, I can do whatever I want”. Just throw money at it to get away with whatever crime? How about these people actually take responsibility and think, “this isn’t right”, “the law is the law so I shouldn’t do it?” Your excusing indefensible behavior is in par with “HEY! It’s their fault for not letting me

do what I want!”

Your train of thought is why we’re in a world of <deleted>.

Tour agency should be fined 100,000 baht per farang for taking them into a restricted area.  It is 100% their fault and they should showcase this on channel 23 and 7, showing that business operators are responsible. I would also shutter their business for a month - confiscate their boat.

Boats allowed but no swimming

Just as there is always a new nationality asking to have a shot thrown at it.

A Thai tour was paid to take them snorkeling, and then they're told not to!

I'd probably be a bit annoyed if that happened to me.

Sai should have been fining the tour company, not the tourists.

Not good to judge all by actions of a few.

Agreed although there are some nationalities much easier to judge because they are represented by the actions of the many rather than the few.

People look at all Muslims and see terrorists, but terrorists are just a tiny fraction of the whole population. The same with the Irish, as some think we're all drunks.

We all laughed watching this guy throw a tantrum like a Big Baby on Amarin TV

Quality entertainment.  See these entitled people sometimes and they don't care.  They visit some place and think they are VIP guests and should be allowed to do as they wish.

Us long term residents officially apologize for these foreigners behavior.

These people are why I left the US.  Maybe send the video to the respective Embassy so they understand why they need to relax visa requirements for Thai tourists.

Did you see the rangers asking for money? The problem is caused by tourists who do not follow the rules or not listen to officials when it explained it is a closed area to protect the coral. Going by the video it is a self entitled tourist who thinks he can do what he wants because he has money.
