Many Thai netizens were glued to coverage of the return to Thailand and surrender of now former fugitive ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra, who had been in self-imposed exile for the best part of 17 years.

Thaksin, being well aware of the local and international attention focused on his return on Tuesday, posted images of himself on his private jet before taking off from Singapore.

Keen-eyed netizens noticed the watch Thaksin is wearing in one of the photos. X (Twitter) user and political analyst M.L. Nattakorn Devakula wrote “If I am not wrong, the watch Thaksin is wearing is Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime”.

Patek Philippe watches are renowned some of the most expensive in the world. If M.L. Nattakorn is correct, prices of the series he mentioned start at about Bt110 million.

When Thaksin landed at a Don Muang VIP airport, however, online detectives went to work again, noticing that the watch Thaksin was now wearing, when he briefly greeted his supporters, was not the same one as in the photo taken on the aircraft.

Instead, it was identified as an Omega X Swatch, the price of which is about Bt8,700.

He's a billionaire not a general. He's also not in government. Little fatty is and he's protected.

Sure he brought many gifts to make gis prison stay more like a 5 ***** resort.  Its already been decreed they will make hiscstay suitable for many visitors and foreign press.   Cant imagine any real press not writing about his royal treatment compared the a normal prisoner.  So that means the oress will be limited to liners.

Prawit has the updated Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Number 2 fitted to his commode ????

'Netizens' maybe need to get a life ????

And ?

I first thought it was a common steel-gold Rolex Daytona. But considering the ca$h flow on the gentleman, a Patek would obvisouly be the preferred model.

on his Jet wears a watch that clearly looks like a PP that cost around more like 300m baht
then netizens claim its a watch that looks completely different even different colour when he is seen in airport
maybe just maybe he changed watch once they landed as he didnt trust authorities handling his 300m baht watch

Would you go through Thai Customs at the airport wearing a 110,000,000 baht watch?

Well I wouldn't put it in the check-in baggage.

'Instead, it was identified as an Omega X Swatch, the price of which is about Bt8,700.'

I will have half a dozen at that price ????

He's a billionaire. He can buy what he wants.

He won't be confined, watch him wriggle out from behind bars... he'll find a way.

The black dial Daytona does have sub dials that look a bit similar from far and and can be mistaken I think....have a nice day.

A probable explanation for the change is that the pix from on board the aircraft were staged and taken on a different day, hence the different watch, but a politician staging a photoshoot!  Who'd have thought?

Maybe he was afraid that Prawit would want to borrow the watch and, as we were told, the owner died.

Karma has it, that Thaksin was right NOT to wear the watch so Prawit would not get funny ideas?

Well, wasn't he in Hong Kong not long ago?  That's where I used to buy all my counterfeit watches.  :whistling:
