North Korea said Sunday it had simulated a nuclear missile attack to warn the United States of “nuclear war danger.”

The country launched several cruise missiles, some of them equipped with mock nuclear warheads, state media outlet KCNA said, describing the exercise as a simulation of a “tactical nuclear attack.”

The exercises were meant to “warn the enemies of the actual nuclear war danger,” KCNA reported the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea as saying.

 

 

It said the exercises were conducted at dawn on Saturday and involved “two long-range strategic cruise missiles with mock nuclear warheads.”

The staged nuclear attack was in response to joint military exercises conducted by the United States and South Korea, earlier in the week, KCNA added.

“The recklessness and dangerous nature of the confrontation hysteria recently betrayed by the US and gangsters of the ‘Republic of Korea’ are unprecedented in history,” KCNA said, in a reference to South Korea.

Joe needs to stop antagonising  Kim by playing these war games .

   The USA taunting North Korea by having military exercises close to its border really needs to stop .

  Trump had the right idea ; stopping with the military exercises and enter into dialogue and come to a peaceful agreement .

   N.K are responding to the USAs provocation

Kim did not stop developing nuclear weapons. Trump's engagement with Kim did nothing to stop that. What Kim learned from Trump is that engaging in testing of missile systems got the attention of the US and elevated the importance of his regime in the eyes of the world. Biden is wisely ignoring Kim's threats and, unlike Trump, not awarding him the attention he so clearly craves.

So which one was it, tactical or Strategic? I can't imagine NK having cruise missiles with the 6200 mile range to strike mainland USA. Ballistic missiles, yes.

I wonder what will happen if the North Koreans or the Russians were to hold exercises off the coast of Hawaii or Catalina island. I don't think the West will be happy to allow the same freedoms they take for granted themselves. 

Still, they had the chance to wipe North Korea off the map in the 50s, as MacArthur suggested, but decided not to. Now there's a big fat baby with a red nuclear trigger to worry about.

It's perfectly valid to bring up Trump in this context. Thanks to Trump, we know what happened last time Kim was rewarded for making threats. You think that it's irrelevant to connect Kim's current behavior to the last time he was appeased by a U.S. President?

Biden has sent his military to the Korean peninsula to practice invading North Korea and Kim has responded by firing mock nuclear weapons

I don't think Biden has sent more troops to the Korean Peninsula to practice invading North Korea.

 

There is an American force based in South Korea, which along with the South Korean military ( which is itself remarkably capable) exists and trains to protect South Korea from the threat of an invasion mounted from North Korea.

 

The peace loving People's Democratic Republic of Korea have a very large amount of ( largely obsolete) artillery permanently emplaced within range of Seoul - permanently emplaced not least because they probably lack the prime movers and logistical means to move or disperse them, and the means or ability to command, control or communicate with them away from those permanent emplacements. In the event of hostilities they wouldn't last more than a couple of hours, although they could do quite a lot of damage in those couple of hours.

 

But that is what South Korea and it's American Allies are preparing for, not to invade the PDRK - the place is a basket case of obsolete infrastructure and incipient famine anyway. Neither South Korea, America or for that matter China want responsibility for that!

The US and S Korea have been conducting war games since the end of the Korean conflict (1953).

Trump did down size the drills but they were never stopped. 

 

My question is why do you think North Korea is in the right?

N Korea is the one that is always making threats.

Kim is up on current events. He is well aware that his former buddy Trump is now only a former president, aka "a private citizen" who is quite likely headed to jail. Kim has always proven himself to be quite capable of outsmarting Trump (not that that means much).

North Korea has repeatedly committed acts of aggression against South Korea and repeatedly made threats against South Korea. Now you want to reward Kim for those threats by accepting his claim that his aggressive actions are prompted by the US? Why do you believe Kim?
