For many years, Muay Thai fans have asked each other:
“Who would win if Buakaw and Saenchai fight?”

For many years, we have been left without an answer to this captivating question.

The magnitude of this moment is a magnet to the minds of fight fans around the world. This is considered by many to be the biggest, and most significant, fight in the history of combat sports in Thailand.

On November 4, fans of Muay Thai, bare knuckle boxing and combat sports will finally discover what happens, when Thailand’s two most exalted Muay Thai champions test themselves against each other.

Taking place inside BKFC’s Squared Circle, in Pattaya, Thailand, this historic event will soon be upon us.

Buakaw

Sombat “Buakaw” Banchamek (born May 8, 1982 in Surin, Thailand) is regarded internationally as one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all time.

Buakaw (meaning “white lotus”) started fighting at the age of eight and has fought a total of 278 times in Muay Thai and kickboxing, amassing a remarkable 240 wins.

A former champion at Bangkok’s famed Omnoi and Lumpinee Stadiums, and the K1 World MAX and Thai Fight tournaments, Buakaw inspires with his aggressive fighting style.

Saenchai

Supachai “Saenchai” Saepong (born July 30, 1980 in Maha Sarakham, Thailand) is one of the most dominant and technical fighters in Muay Thai’s history.

Entering the ring a staggering 378 times for Muay Thai and kickboxing, Saenchai has won a total of 327 fights, and hasn’t lost since 2014.

Saenchai held the belt in the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium title in four different weight divisions, and recently won Thailand’s coveted King’s Cup for the fourth time, in December 2022.

Back story

Discussion took place for many years about the possibility of these two Muay Thai juggernauts coming face-to-face inside the ring. So it was a massive surprise to combat sports fans globally, when it was announced that the two would at long last meet in 2023, in BKFC’s Squared Circle.

The event is a Special Rules Bare Knuckle Thai Fight, which allows punches, kicks, knees, elbows and clinching – and as per BKFC rules, no gloves!

Insiders are aware that “Legends of Siam” Buakaw and Saenchai are friends and occasional training partners. Associating with each other was inevitable, as each man rose to the top of the industry, both in Thailand and internationally.

BKFC’s 5 x 2-minute round fights provide fighters with an opportunity to deliver an epic display of intensity and skill (standard Muay Thai rounds last for 3-minutes).

Cutting 1-minute off the round length, with which both Buakaw and Saenchai are familiar, will result in explosions of technical mastery. BKFC guarantees high-volume, fast-paced action until the final bell rings – or someone is knocked out!

Both fighters have promised they are NOT entering the Squared Circle for a sparring match, this is NOT an exhibition and it 100% a real fight. BKFC Asia CEO Nick Chapman has assured us there “must be a winner,” and the fight will not end in a draw.

How we got here

In early 2022, big boss of BKFC David Feldman, accepted Nick Chapman’s vision to make this superfight a reality. After careful consideration, he concluded, “It seems a lot of people want to see this, and these two certainly deserve a legacy fight to mark their incredible achievements. Let’s give the fans what they want!”

Since BKFC’s inception, Feldman has been focussed on pushing boundaries and changing the face of combat sports. Chapman’s well-tuned negotiation skills, along with his business partner Vathanai Vathankul’s support and networking skills, helped to achieve what no other promoter has been able to do before. Contracts were signed by both Buakaw and Saenchai in October 2022.

Originally the bout was scheduled for April this year, but there were a number of obstacles to overcome, causing delays, which left many people wondering if we would ever get to see this special-rules Super Fight.

Now, thankfully, the two are set to headline BKFC Asia’s fifth-instalment, which again takes place in Thailand at Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall, located at the world-renowned and multi-award winning, Royal Cliff Hotel.

To highlight what makes this matchup so unbelievably awesome, it is this:

Buakaw and Saenchai – two of Muay Thai’s most extraordinary fighters of all time – are FINALLY going to fight each other AND they’re doing it BARE KNUCKLE!

This is history in the making. It is a pioneering step forward for combat sports. And it must be witnessed “live” in Thailand, or in real time through the BKFC app!

The rest of the card is ABSOLUTELY stacked!

Bout 11: Co-Main Flyweight World Title Fight
Po Denman (Thailand) vs Britain Hart (USA)

Our Co-Main Event is a Flyweight Title Fight between two of BKFC’s top women’s fighters in the world. One of Thailand’s greatest female martial artists, Po Denman, takes on America’s current BKFC women’s champion, Britain Hart.

Denman is an accomplished martial artist who competed in Boxing, Muay Thai, KickBoxing and Lethwei, before eventually entering BKFC’s Squared Circle. From a total of 39 fights, the adored Thai athlete has only lost once. Although she doesn’t look it, Denman is as tough as they come, and absolutely fearless when she goes to war. The 26-year-old even fought a male fighter, finishing him by KO, in an underground bare knuckle boxing event in Bangkok. The entire martial arts community of Thailand will be cheering for Denman to get the job done here.

Denman’s record: Muay Thai (7-0-1), Boxing (17-1-1), KickBoxing (4-0-0), Lethwei (6-0-0), Bare Knuckle (2-0-0)

Hart is coming to Thailand with hopes of spoiling the party. The BKFC Women’s World Champion made history this year by becoming the first female fighter to compete 10 times in the Squared Circle, and sits atop of the leaderboard for most total victories amongst female fighters. After successfully defending her BKFC Women’s Strawweight Championship for the first time, Hart told BKFC, “You need to believe in yourself no matter what, we can do hard things, and I’m in BKFC for a reason.” The champ continued by declaring, “I’m ready for whatever is coming my way.”

Hart’s record: Bare Knuckle (7-3-0)

Will Denman snatch the World Title for Thailand, or will Hart defend her belt for a second time? No matter what the outcome is, our Co-Main Event promises to deliver a spectacular display of grit and skill, at the highest level.
