Qatar Airways will resume the Doha-Phnom Penh flights on October 29, connecting Cambodia to one of the busiest air traffic hubs of the world. Vann Chanty, Director-General of Air Transport at the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, said it was confirmed during a meeting last week. “Qatar Airways has decided to resume its flights from Doha to Phnom Penh. This is a good sign for Cambodia’s aviation sector,” Chanty told reporters.

“The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation too has agreed on the airline’s flight resumption, connecting Cambodia and the Middle East as the new travel season begins,” he said. Qatar Airways started its daily flights to Phnom Penh in February 2013 and became the first Middle East airline that operated direct flights to the Kingdom.

The airline used to fly daily between Doha and Phnom Penh but the Covid-19 pandemic put an end to it. Qatar Airways stopped the Phnom Penh flight in April 2020. The airline started direct flights to the Kingdom in a bid to connect the country with scores of other destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North America and South America.
