I had a problem with my foot a couple of years ago and went to the orthopedic clinic at Ram Hospital, walk in. The on staff orthopedist handling the walk in traffic that day, took one look at me and my complaints and explained what was wrong and to let nature take its course, with paracetamol for discomfort. It did and I got well on my own. I think the visit was 200 Baht.

Foot problems are often handled by orthopedists in Thailand. I don't know if they have a branch of medicine with separate training like Podiatry in the West. While some people swear by Podiartrists, when I went to one, after my hammer toe developed, it was too late, short of surgery, when an orththotic in the shoe worked to relieve my symptoms. Reviewing that care with a orthopedist later indicated he could have done the same for me had I gone to him instead. It may be economics, Podiatrists charge a lot less than orthopedic surgeons.

Had the same condition years ago. If it is totally debilitating, some MD's will treat with a cortisone shot in the heel to the affected area. Painful, and only works in pain relief for a couple of months. Much better solution- try to find the insoles they sell that are moldable (the base is made of Zytel nylon)- you boil them and bend them to give a maximum arch. Of course, you can pay for custom orthotics from a specialist, and pay through the nose...

The cheapies, with an over the counter pain reliever (ibuprofen) worked for me. Good luck!
