A New Spam Email: I Get A Few Of These Everyday...

Hi

This past 10 days or so, I am getting 4 or 5 a day each of these new, Junk emails...

1. Get an email spammed off some innocent partys domain, contains a PDF Attachment usualled called something like

AT00003.pdf

2. Keep getting emails from several different greeting card sites...."click this link a "friend" has send you a greeting.

Anyone know what these are?

I got McAfee Anti Virus... (legit version too, sick to death of being loaded up with pirated software down in Tucom in Pattaya, and then, it seems to crash or freeze always during some work project, causing lost money!)

anyway I was wondering could I do something with McAfee, to stip getting this BS.

I dont know that much but i do know the greeting card e-mails area scam i had one few years ago clicked on the link and had to enter my user name and password , which i did, that was a big mistake

i was with aol at the time ,next day i was banned from aol for sending something like 2500000 spam e-mails overnight , it took 4 days for them to drop the ban ,

Getting the same stuff, especially the pdf's. Haven't opened any. Not sure if one can embed virus, scripts, etc in a pdf that would start when opened, but I assume they can.

Just dump 'em. 99% are dangerous.

Nearly all Junk Mail / Spam Blocking programmes do not recognise PDF attachments as SPAM. As Dr PP says - delete them. Some Spam Blocking programmes have the option to block either the email address, the domain (or both).

Don't click on them if you are a Windows user, they are all redirecting to infected websites.

yes, I have been deletign both the PDFs and Greeting Cards...

get 5 to 10 a day of each.. very annoying!

Blocking the domain... does that work? I mean do these guys not piggy back and spam of some other poor innocent persons or companys domain?

I had serious spamming going from my business .ie domain.. email like [email protected]

the guy who hosts my web site, got a warning (from company he hosts all his clients web sites on, he has a small web dev firm) over my domain getting spam. he told me not to send out my monthly newsetter... and not to send out my montly jobs update to candidates on my database.

I use constantcontact.com for the news letter, and I said to him 1. some a88ehole is spamming off my doamin (send him many bounce back to prove it was not me.. viagara, stock alerts etc) and 2. All my newsletters use constantcontact is opt in, with a permission reminder on top of each news letter and an unsubscribe in 2 diferent places, and also with a note I put in Telling People to Unsubscribe if they not want myu 4 - 6 week newsletter.
