Chiang Rai - Immigration authorities, under the leadership of Major General Suphanat Jaroenruangrueang, head of the 5th Army Region, have initiated rigorous inspections of foreign worker accommodations and high-risk locations, in line with their crime prevention plan.

This is aimed at identifying any inappropriate behavior or potential wrongdoing, including violations of immigration laws and other related statutes, and actions that pose a threat to national security.

On September 29, 2023, Major General Surasak Thienthong, the commander of the 5th Army Region, ordered a team led by Police Colonel Prinya Burapholit, head of the investigation unit, to conduct a thorough inspection of foreign worker accommodations and high-risk locations within their jurisdiction in Chiang Rai, reported 77kaoded.

The inspections covered foreign nationals' residences, particularly in Soi 5, Moo 24, Tambon Rop Wiang, Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai, Chiang Rai province, as well as hotel accommodations in the area.
