A deputy, an insider or Trump? The race for US House Speaker

Featured Replies

Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise have become the first two Republicans to join the race to replace Kevin McCarthy, who was voted out as Speaker in an unprecedented move on Tuesday.

Other Republicans are also rumoured to be mounting a bid, and some have even floated Donald Trump as an option.

The Speaker can technically be anyone in the US.

Republicans plan to hold a speaker candidate forum next Tuesday, followed by a possible vote the next day.

Here's a quick rundown of the candidates who could be next in line.

Jim Jordan

Steve Scalise

Kevin Hern

Donald Trump

As the republicans churn (a new political soap opera)what a hot stinking mess the House republicans are beggers belief

The same idiots who couldn’t get enough votes for a shutdown think they can get enough votes for Trump as ‘Slurrer of the House’.

The GOP are away with the fairies.

Trump wasn't a serious candidate last time, and he isn't this time.  They just enjoy watching lefties' heads explode and knickers twist.

Nay, doubt the lefties will be bothered but will surely drive the Republicans crazy and into a frenzy. Trump would have to get virtually ALL the Republicans on board. He may get half to two thirds if some hold their nose BUT not all. There are some 20 something Republicans from districts that actually voted for Biden. Don't think the average Republicans wants to play a hand in giving TRump the power to creat more chaos and even shut down the government. Anyway, the Senate and White House are in the Dems hands and will snuff out any House shenanigans.

Meanwhile good governance for the good people of the US is not getting the attention it should be!

Knock yourself out, so long as it drives donations to Democrat coffers.

And votes to Democrat candidates ????

Trump has a record of non-performance. Doesn't come through on anything. Even has Biden building the border wall that he couldn't.
